Preparing For Winter Animals Blog

What can people do to prepare for the invasion of winter nuisance animals?

Home maintenance and prevention are the keys to preparing against the invasion of winter nuisance wildlife. This time of year when we begin to experience cooler nights with the onset of fall and winter, wild animals have the need to find shelter. Squirrels moving into attics, mice finding ways into crawl spaces and raccoons entering under decks and shed are all too common. A thorough inspection NOW can reveal potential entry areas that animals may use. By addressing these entry spots before winter, animal invasion can many times be avoided. Inspecting chimney tops, roof vents, attic fans, bath fans, dryer vents and other common roof and contruction areas are important. These areas are the most likely spots for animals to target when the weather turns.  Being sure that these areas are secured with appropriate covers and screens is vital.
