Bobcats Feast On Fountain Hills Pet

FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ (KPHO) - A Fountain Hills woman learned firsthand the perils of living closely with Arizona wildlife.

Julie Mizell could only watch helplessly as a mother bobcat carried away one Mizell's dogs, a Chihuahua named Starr, just more than a week ago.

As it turns out, the bobcat was hunting for food for her cub.

Mizell watched it all happen and chased after the cat trying to save her dog.

"I wasn't really thinking about the cat, I was thinking about Starr and trying to save her and wanting to make sure she was safe and I wanted my dog back," Mizell said.

The momma bobcat and her cub were eventually caught in a live trap provided by wildlife control company Critter Control on Friday.

Later, a large male bobcat also wandered into Julie's backyard, and right into the live trap.

A Critter Control employee said the male is one of the biggest cats he's ever seen.

All three will be relocated with the help of Southwest Wildlife.
